Chinyere Okereke

OAKLAND CHAPTER

Chinyere Okereke is an influential leader from Berkeley, CA. Growing up as a first generation Nigerian-American made her resourceful, resilient and open-minded; helping her to develop unique perspectives that allow her to thrive. Chinyere brought these traits with her to UC Berkeley, where she served in many leadership capacities. She has experience as a resident advisor, mentor for high school students, and board member of various student organizations. In addition, she is a fierce advocate for health equity and social justice. At Cal this led her to create her own major, Health Disparities and Social Institutions, where she conducted field work in hospitals and schools. After graduating, she continued the work of alleviating health disparities and improving the health of marginalized communities.

Currently, Chinyere serves as the Director of Operations for The Black Neighborhood (TBN). In this role, she has been instrumental to the success and sustainability of the organization. She effectively handles project management, program administration and partner relations. Additionally, Chinyere regularly recruits volunteers, develops programming and generates innovative ideas. She also provides analytical and marketing expertise to ensure TBN events are executed in the highest quality. 

Chinyere brings extensive experience to the team. Aside from her brilliance and creativity, what is most unique about Chinyere is her drive and unwavering commitment to compassionate service.
