Kimani Elliott
FOUNDING MEMBER | NEW YORK CHAPTER
Kimani Elliott is a dynamic young man whose charm and charisma captivates everyone around him. Community and family oriented, Kimani's involvement in The Black Neighborhood came all too naturally. He credits his mother and grandparents for his universal knowledge and consciousness as he recognizes the power of his benevolence. Kimani's advocacy of cultural pride and self-love was enhanced when he left his hometown of Richmond, CA, to attend Howard University in Washington, DC.
While at Howard, Kimani experienced a community that was fueled by love and heavily promoted black excellence. This gave him a sense of purpose that propelled him to work with the youth directly. He taught as a 1st grade teacher in West Oakland then moved to New York to continue his teaching and personal endeavors.
Aside from his philanthropic involvement with The Black Neighborhood, Kimani Elliott works as a High School teacher at Achievement First Brooklyn High. While in New York, he founded the TBN Book Club, which currently consists of 16 members. Together they read and discuss books by Black authors and engage in community service. He also created TBN’s first College Readiness Program- a monthly event where he brings college graduates and High School students together to discuss preparation, real-life circumstances, and the SAT work necessary for college.
